BUILDING FIREPROOF STRUCTURES
Our heartfelt condolences go out to all those affected by the devastating fires.
May strength and hope guide you through this difficult time.
Building Fire-Resistant Homes and Fireproofing Existing Structures
In response to the devastating fires that have destroyed the homes and structures of many of our communities across Los Angeles County and the surrounding areas, we're expanding our building fire-resistant homes and retrofitting existing structures to withstand wildfire services.
Our approach incorporates cutting-edge techniques and materials that significantly enhance a home's ability to resist fire damage. One of the options is to use Phos-Check fire retardant system for a range of fire retardants designed to prevent and suppress spreading of fire. Other ways are to utilize fire-resistant materials such as concrete, fire-rated bricks, and steel framing, which are far less combustible than traditional wood.
Roofing is upgraded with non-combustible materials like metal, clay, or concrete tiles, while fire-resistant exterior cladding options such as fiber cement boards and stucco add an additional layer of protection. Windows are installed with dual-pane, tempered glass to reduce the risk of shattering under intense heat.
For existing homes, we offer comprehensive fireproofing solutions that include retrofitting vulnerable areas. This can involve replacing flammable roofing with Class A fire-rated materials, sealing gaps and vents with ember-resistant covers, and adding fire-resistant coatings to exterior walls. Landscaping is also an integral part of fireproofing, and we can assist homeowners in creating defensible space around their property by clearing flammable vegetation, incorporating fire-resistant plants, and using gravel or stone for ground cover.
Additionally, we offer advanced solutions such as automatic fire suppression systems, fire-resistant insulation, and external sprinkler systems that can help protect homes during a wildfire.
Each city has the final say in what system can be implemented, as availability of water is a huge factor in such situations.
Our mission is to keep perfecting a process of building homes and structures that will make our communities safer through innovative, effective, and sustainable methods.
